CASA DO PROFESSOR "TEACHER'S HOUSE"
In Maputo and Matola, there are 2 public libraries/bookstores and 5 reading clubs located in Centro B, Marracuene, Machava, Matola Rio, and Matola Shoprite, overseen by Aissa Missak.
The initiative supports the establishment of community-based reading clubs and equips the Chapateca.
Casa do Professor, an educational association in Mozambique, enhances teacher development through library resources, training on modern teaching practices, and technology use to improve education quality.
SKATE AND EDUCAÇÃO
The Skate Education project, led by Francisco Vinho in the Khongolote district of Matola, combines skateboarding with education to support children from underprivileged communities. Through the SKATOTECA, a mini community library, the program promotes literacy, creativity, teamwork, and confidence.
It provides a safe and inclusive space for personal and academic development, using skateboarding as a tool to inspire life skills and educational growth.
APC – CITIZEN PROJECT ASSOCIATION
The Brazilian faith-based organization, led by Nilto Cavalheiro, manages the El Shaddai community school in Picoco 1, Boane district, offering primary and secondary education. Its KAYA PICO Project transforms a container into a library for local children.
The APC – Citizen Project Association focuses on empowering youth and communities through education, literacy, and social development. Collaborating with schools and centers, APC promotes social inclusion, active citizenship, and sustainable community well-being.
KATEMBE MUODJO
The Associação Cultural MUODJO, led by Osvaldo Lourenço, promotes arts and culture for healing and empowerment in cities like Maputo, Beira, and Cabo Delgado. Through the KAYA KASSANE Project, it manages an inclusive educational center where CHAPATECA oversees the library.
MUODJO fosters creativity, personal growth, and social cohesion through music, dance, theater, and literacy programs. By collaborating with local partners, it empowers communities, preserves Mozambican culture, and addresses social issues through art and education.
REPENSAR
Created by environmentalist Carlos Serra, REPENSAR is a Mozambican cooperative promoting sustainable development and environmental responsibility through waste management, recycling, and resource conservation. It collaborates with local communities on education, capacity-building, and green job creation to improve livelihoods.
REPENSAR also offers daily tutoring for neighborhood children to enhance school performance and reduce dropouts. Chapateca supports this initiative with weekly reading workshops, enriching the educational center with engaging activities.
The Chapateca Association, committed to promoting inclusive and quality education, is an active member of two national networks, RDPI and MEPT, thus contributing to the strengthening of policies and practices focused on early childhood and the right to education in Mozambique.
RDPI:
Network for Early Childhood Development in Mozambique (RDPI):
RDPI is a platform that brings together civil society organizations, academic institutions, the private sector, and development partners to promote policies and actions focused on Early Childhood in Mozambique.
The network works to ensure that all children, especially the most vulnerable, have access to quality care, education, and protection in their early years. Additionally, RDPI engages in advocacy, capacity building, and knowledge sharing among sector stakeholders, contributing to the implementation of effective, evidence-based programs.
The Movement for Education for All (MEPT) is a Mozambican civil society network dedicated to promoting the right to quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all children, youth, and adults in the country. Acting as a platform for advocacy and dialogue, MEPT brings together organizations, communities, and partners to influence education policies and ensure that national and international education commitments are fulfilled.
The movement plays a key role in monitoring public policies, social mobilization, and defending educational rights, with a special focus on vulnerable and marginalized groups.
MEPT:
CultivArte is a cultural program funded by the EU that focuses on promoting artistic education, empowering young talent, and supporting community-based cultural initiatives. Through this program, the Chapateca Association has had the opportunity to participate in various initiatives such as ActivArte and FemTech, which have helped us strengthen our capacity and impact. This year, we were selected for EstagiArte, the internship component of CultivArte, which has provided us with a valuable platform to develop our team, support youth engagement, and further our mission in the fields of education and the arts.
